Purpose

Our congregation recently participated in The Forty Days of Purpose
campaign inspired by Rick Warren's best selling book, The Purpose Driven
Life. One outcome of this experience was for us to focus more
specifically on how we hope to foster the growth of God's Kingdom among us.
How We Hope To Foster the Kingdom’s Growth among Us:
- To help each member discover the unique way in which he
or she can glorify God, for we are all made by God for God. This is a
Christian’s daily Worship – pleasing God into all that we say
and do.
- To help each member connect to God’s family and to
nurture and support each member through his or her journey of faith. This is
a Christian’s Fellowship of faith – living in God’s family.
- To persuade and equip each member to become more like
Christ as we grow up in the faith. This is a Christian’s Discipleship
– to become more Christ-like in the way we live our lives in the image of
God.
- To assist each member to discover his or her God-given
gifts and talents in order to better serve others in the fellowship of faith.
This is a Christian’s Ministry – the service we offer to build
up the Church, the Body of Christ.
- To encourage each member to witness in word and deed to
the Good News of Jesus’ loving grace. This is a Christian’s Mission
– the visible compassion of Christ shared with those outside the circle of
faith.
