Youth Ministries
We hope everyone finds a place to gather and a community in which to belong at DRC, including our youth.

Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to attend our Middle School Youth Group. This group meets on the second and fourth Sundays of most months from 4:00-5:00 pm.
We focus on community building and fellowship, as well as faith discussion and service. A typical meeting is packed with games and fun, as well as a time of devotion centered around questions that might appeal to this age group. We also participate in outreach and service: cooking meals for homeless families, Christmas caroling to shut ins, leading food drives, and other activities during the year.

Our High School youth join with others in the local Presbyterian and Methodist churches as part of the RPM High School Youth Group. This group is a collaboration between churches that has been going on for over 40 years.
In the current rendition of RPM, students gather at Pastor Jake’s home on the second Tuesday of each month for “Taco Tuesday @ the Chipkas’.” Additionally, throughout the year, the high school group prepares meals for mission partners like IPH and Family Promise. They participate in Rise Against Hunger and “Midnight Run,” a clothing and food distribution program in New York City. Once or twice a year, the group travels to UAlbany to participate in their Food and Faith program. The group also volunteers at the Regional Food Bank’s Patroon Farm, among other places.
The idea behind all this is to blend community and service, similarly to the way Christ nurtured the same among his disciples.

A year-long series of classes, meeting approximately 16 times during the school year, is offered to students in 8th grade and above who are interested in reflecting on their faith and learning along the way.
This class serves as a survey course covering: the Bible, the life of Jesus, the history of Christianity, Christian faith and practice, worship and the sacraments, all while providing opportunities for students to prompt questions and conversations. It is co-led by our pastors.
