Youth Ministries

We hope everyone finds a place to gather and a community in which to belong at DRC, including our youth.

  • Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to attend our Middle School Youth Group. This groups meet approximately two times each month during the school year, typically on Sunday afternoons.

We focus on community building and fellowship, as well as faith discussion and service. A typical meeting is packed with games and fun, as well as a time of devotion centered around questions that might appeal to this age group. We also participate in outreach and service: cooking meals for homeless families, Christmas caroling to shut ins, leading food drives, and other activities during the year.

The group is currently led by our pastors and a member of the congregation, who also serves as a local middle school guidance counselor.

  • Our High School youth join with others in the local Presbyterian and Methodist churches as part of the RPM High School Youth Group. This group is a collaboration between churches that has been going on for over 40 years.

Students meet twice monthly for discussion and fellowship, as well as a number of activities and events throughout the year which have included: week-long mission trips during Easter break, retreats, overnight lock-ins, fellowship outings, and a “Midnight Run” clothing and food distribution in New York City.

Our students are invited to reflect on their belief in an inclusive setting, often welcoming friends from different religious traditions and belief into the conversation too. They participate in worship leadership throughout the three partner churches as a part of the group and lead an annual Picnic at the Park service at Elm Ave Park in June.

  • A year-long series of classes, meeting approximately 15 times during the school year, is offered to students in 8th grade and above who are interested in reflecting on their faith and learning along the way.

This class serves as a survey course covering: the Bible, the life of Jesus, the history of Christianity, Christian faith and practice, worship and the sacraments, all while providing opportunities for students to prompt questions and conversations. It is co-led by our pastors.
